BPBD Warns of Potential Very Heavy Rain in Jakarta

The Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) has issued an early warning for potential extreme weather hitting the capital from January 22 to 24, 2026.

Our teams and related agencies are on standby

According to data from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the forecast is as follows:

January 22 to 23: Potential for very heavy to extreme rainfall

Widespread Heavy Rain Expected in Jakarta Today

January 24: Heavy to very heavy rain expected.

Stay Vigilant

Jakarta BPBD Head, Isnawa Adji, warned that these conditions could trigger hydrometeorological disasters, such as puddles and flooding in several parts of the city.

Residents—especially those in flood-prone areas or neighborhoods with limited drainage systems—are urged to increase their preparedness.

How to Prepare:

Gear Up: Always carry an umbrella or raincoat when heading outdoors.

Emergency Kit: Prepare a "Go-Bag" (Emergency Preparedness Kit) for your household.

Stay Informed: Regularly check water levels and flood updates in real-time via the JAKI app or the official Pantau Banjir website.

Emergency Contact:

If you find yourself in an emergency situation, do not hesitate to call the Jakarta Siaga hotline at 112.

"Our teams and related agencies are on standby and monitoring the situation closely to respond quickly to any incidents for the safety of all Jakartans," Isnawa stated, Thursday (1/22).
